Although it may seem unnecessary or unlikely, it is important to drop this bad habit, not for the reputation of the United States, but for your health and wellbeing. There are many ways that you can help change this that won’t require too much of a lifestyle change. Sneak fruits and vegetables into your diet by blending them with what your current eating habits are.

Some examples of blending vegetables include mix-ins for sandwiches, soups, and salads. When making meats or casseroles, you can try to mix in vegetables such as onions or green peppers, not just for flavoring, but to eat. If it is done right, you may find that it tastes better with the add-ins.

Sandwiches are a bit easier to add vegetables. Dress your sandwiches up in the same way you would add vegetables on a sub sandwich or burger. Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions are a few of the more common healthy add-ons, but you have the liberty to create your idea of a delicious and healthy sandwich.

Salad does not always have to be made with green leaves. It is the healthier choice of salad, but pasta salad, potato salad, or cole slaw are a few examples of salads that you may forget are healthy for  you.

Healthy desserts are a great way to sneak fruits into your diet. Aside from fruit salad, grapes, strawberries, fruits are a great topper for most desserts. They are sweet and tasty, and they are healthy as long as they are eaten in moderation. Fruits are the tricky part of the food pyramid because they have a lot of natural sugars and acids in them. The sugars and acids are not only bad for your teeth, but also bad for your stomach and sugar levels,  if you eat them too much. Keep an eye on how much you eat, and you should be fine.

Changing anything that you have become accustomed to can be very complicated for any person, which could be why America has the proof and knowledge about eating healthy, but many people will not do it. If you want to be one of those who goes against the grain, it’s going to take some motivation and discipline to be able to stick to it. Not everything in your diet has to change, but start with small changes and gradually increase as you become accustomed to the new order of everything.

If you are serious about this, eat out less and cook at home as much as possible. This way you will actively participate in the preparation of the meals, know what it in your food, and decide if you may be able to add something else to make it healthier and taste better. The food customs of the United States cannot be changed overnight, but  you can easily start changing your habits now.
